Second Part Of The Amarnath Cave Saga --------------------------------------------------------------------- I started grinning at the open mouthed wonderment of the business men from Jullunder as they watched the going ons at Amarnath cave and decided to check out the cave which was a huge cavern in which a stalagmite stood at least 9 to 10 feet surrounded by a iron grill. At the back of the cave were two smaller stalagmites which the Sadhus said were of Parvati and Ganesha. So when I asked them how could it be Ganesha as he was left behind at the foot of the 14000 feet high Mahagunas pass? This kind of question stirred a hornets nest and derisive sounds rose amidst this crowd of eminent citizens who represented the most learned and who the hell was this little twerp to question the going ons of their rock stars !!?? I felt like a civilian or civvie does amongst army men but I kept my composure and repeated my question. The oldest amongst them snorted Were you there when the event took place and I sensed I had touched a raw nerve somewhere. I the. looked around and in the light of the fire on the left saw a bunch of cross ashen faced ghoulish looking lot who really looked ghastly compared to the other Sadhus. These I later learned were the Aghoris who were on top of the ascendancy ladder and also lived in graveyards and drank wine or Sura from skulls. I realised that I had bitten off mor than I could chew but four years of working with enraged people who had lost their baggage or their flight I regained my composure as an inner voice told me that I could handle this lot. So I turned on my charm and with a smiling face explained that I worked for an airlines which took quite an explaining to do and some of the foreigners started explaining in their pidgin Hindi to the Babas about planes. Encouraged by the support I told the Sadhus that I had searched for God hopelessly in the past and I felt that he lived here. One sadhu snorted Foolish one God is not he or she and is without form ( Nirbikar or Nirvikar . I winced inside knowing I had again made a booboo and should measurements words. But being a seeker I opened my mouth again unafraid of the consequences and asked about Shiva living in Mount Kailash and his consort on Nanda Devi. Then with kindness in his voice he told me a long tale with all the foreigners nodding off as they understood not one single word of the story told. I heard a story that evening which beat many stories I had heard in my twenty seven years on Mother Earth and the stories continued for four days as I lived ate listened and questioned. It was a tale of a God man like no other as he was Brahma Vishnu and Maheshwar. Slowly his voice was drowned as sleep dulled my sense and the last words I heard was Satyam Shivam Sundaram. It was 3.30 a.m. by watch and I had heard a tale of a wife exhorting her husband to not to fob off this time but give out the secret of immortality. Parvati with all her guile knew how to force Shiva to give out the secret but her consort was made of stronger stuff than to buckle under straight away. He had to protect the secret and so with his mascot the Bull Nandi his elephant headed son Ganesha headed for Amarnath cave where the silent frigid environs would see to it that nobody heard the secret of immortality.
