Second Wave of Storms approaching!! SHARE AND TAG FAMILY OR FRIENDS A Severe Thunderstorm is current For people in the Lockyer Valley and parts of the Ipswich, Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim and Toowoomba Council Areas. For DAMAGING WINDS AND HEAVY RAINFALL. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:15 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Laravale, Kooralbyn and the area south of Helidon. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Laidley, Gatton, Grandchester and Helidon by 6:30 pm and Beaudesert, Rosewood, Hatton Vale and Marburg by 6:45 pm. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 6:50 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Southeast Coast districts.
