Second years thinking of taking the work placement module and interested in social media / marketing / charity work, please see below. Let me know by Friday if youre interested. Our upcoming event is called The Bristol Bake Off and it is a simple fundraising event where we ask people all over Bristol and the South West to hold cake sales in their schools, homes, workplaces and community groups to raise money for our Golden Gift Appeal. The Appeal is due to Raise £6 million over 3 years for the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. We are quite a small team and have a limited budget so we are looking at where we can find support for our work in other ways other than fundraising and we thought that we could offer your students an exciting opportunity to work on a real life campaign in social media marketing which can hopefully tie into any projects within your curriculum. We already have a wider marketing plan in place which does draw on certain social media opportunities mainly through Facebook and Twitter, but we want to explore things that we are not currently doing and invite all sorts of creative ideas of generating more interest in the event and thus causing more sign ups. This could be through other social networking sites or mobile apps, games etc. The event runs between 2nd and 8th June and we would be looking to meet with your students in the next couple of weeks to have a briefing meeting (1-2 Hours) where we can discuss our requirements and objectives, then have a follow up meeting where the students present their ideas (1-2 Hours) and we agree what we like or not and then set them the task of implementing their ideas into reality over the April and May period leading up to the event. The implementation time very much depends on what ideas are taken forward. For example, if it is some kind of engagement tool on a social network, we would want regular updating of maybe an hour a day, which could be spread across a few students. If it was a one off thing, like setting up an app, this may take more development time upfront and then be a case of sharing through every social media site available. Again this would all be decided in the planning session. As this is very much an online activity, we envisage that all work could be done remotely and in liaison with our marketing manager, Jules Stanbridge via phone and email correspondence. The biggest ask of your students would be time and unfortunately we would not be able to pay for this. We don’t foresee any extra costs, but if there are we can review this at the planning stage and look into the budget that we do have. Please look at our website to see more on what we do and some info on the Bristol Bake Off... aboveandbeyond.org.uk/bristol-bake
