Secondary Announcements for Monday, March 17: The final badminton team has been chosen and is posted outside of the gym. All team members are expected to be at practice tonight at 2:30. There will be a meeting for all prom committee members this Thursday, March 20th at lunch in room 227. Congratulations to all those who participated in the TISS Winter Olympics. Special congratulations to our medal winners. The grade nine boys team representing Jamaica and led by captains Jared Payette and Drew Morin showed a great deal of spirit and skill in capturing the bronze medals. In a very close battle finishing only two points behind the winners, our Silver medalists were team North Korea, led by captains Payden Selleck and Dawson Smith. In the end, the speed and endurance of the Flying Dutchman, speed skater Conor Taugher and Captain Declan Colwells leadership were too much for all challengers as Team Haiti captured the overall title, the Gold medal and all of the bragging rights. Special thanks to the members of the Recreational Leadership class who did an outstanding job of organizing and running the event. March Break 2015 is your chance to visit the capitals of Europe. Visit London’s Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace and Jack the Ripper’s hunting ground. In Paris, you’ll see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Palace of Versailles. Cruise the canals of Amsterdam and visit the secret place of Anne Frank as she hid from the Nazi’s during World War 11. This is just a small sample of the things you will do and see. Until the end of February you have the opportunity to save $150 off this great trip. Want to know more or how you too can be part of this great adventure? See Mr. Yerdon in the Hospitality Room! Don’t miss out – your European Adventure awaits! Adopt-A-Village Brick By Brick: It costs $10,000 to build a school in Nicaragua and the HELP Club has raised half of that already this year with your support. Wed like to raise the other half before the end of the school year. You can, once again, help us by adopting a village brick by brick! Drop by at lunch in the main hall all week for a chance to win one of five fabulous prizes. Buy a brick for $2 or three bricks for $5. Help us put another brick in the wall! Graduating Grade 12’s, listen up. Its time to start thinking about graduation and the first stop on the road to Commencement is picking a valedictorian. The valedictorian is elected by his or her peers to give the all-important speech at Commencement expressing the feelings of the Class of 2014. Being selected valedictorian is Commencements highest honour. If you are interested in running to be valedictorian, pick up a form from the red folder on the bulletin board outside Room 106 and complete it. You must find nine fellow Grade 12 graduates to sponsor you, and meet the criteria of being an excellent public speaker who is in excellent academic standing, has shown exemplary conduct both in and out of school and has contributed to school life. A principals signature is also required. If you think you fit this description, are in Grade 12 and are eligible to earn your diploma this year, then you are encouraged to run for this prestigious position. Completed nomination forms are due to Mr. Cross in the TLC, Ms. LeSueur in Student Services, or, if all else fail, the Main Office, by Tuesday, March 25th at 2:30 p.m. Please see Mr. Cross if you have any questions. Interested in the Medical field? Want to volunteer at the Brockville General Hospital? Get your community hours done and learn more about medical professions. Come to an information session Wednesday, March 19th in the ampitheater to learn more about this exciting opportunity. Sign up in Student Services if you want to attend.
