Section 2 The sun was already out and shining bright when Tricia opened her eyes and stared out of the window. The heat again, just great she thought to herself but at least it was better than the storm. After a nice hot shower she got dressed and made her way downstairs to see if she could get some breakfast before setting off back out on the road. The reception area looked totally different during the day and she found a narrow hallway that led her to a small dining room, she must have been the last person to wake up as all the table were taken up already, then a young woman gestured for her to join her table. “Thanks, I’m Tricia. Looks like I slept in a little, I haven’t missed breakfast have I?” “Not at all, most of us just got down here anyway, I’m Kayla, it’s nice to meet you. You got in last night didn’t you?” “That’s right yeah, just as the storm was turning nasty” answered Tricia. “I thought so, I saw your car pull in from my window, are you staying up here for long?” “No, not staying at all actually. I only pulled in to get off the roads last night, I’m heading off after breakfast.” “You’ve not heard yet then?” asked Kayla. “Heard what?” “Storm did some real damage out there, it’s brought a few trees down along the road out. They said it could take two or three days to get it cleared out.” “You’re joking, that’s all I need” answered Tricia. “Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and all, anyway nice to meet you I guess I’ll see you around for a couple days at least.” Replied Kayla as she got up and left Tricia to eat her breakfast and figure out what to do next. After breakfast Tricia decided to take a walk outside and see how bad it looked for herself, the only road in or out of the place ran off down through to the trees to the west of the main building, just before the road hit the woods there was a smaller building that looked like some sort of garage or storage shed with a door open and a young woman standing outside of it talking with the old woman from reception last night. She made her way over to see if she could find out anymore about when she would be able to get back on the road. “I don’t know if you heard dear but the roads blocked pretty bad, you’re stuck with us a few days at least. Your room will be free just pay for the food and drink, I can’t charge you for staying when you’re not able to get up and leave now can I” said the old woman before Tricia even had a chance to ask a question. “Oh ok I was just wondering” her voice trailed off as the old woman was already wandering back up to the main house. “don’t worry she does that a lot, you just kind of get used to it. I’m Emi, Emi Croft it’s good to meet you.” The girl said as she grabbed Tricia’s hand and shook it just a little too enthusiastically. “Erm.. nice to meet you, I’m Tricia” she answered a little taken back by the high spirits of this girl who seemed a very odd package indeed. She looked no more than nineteen years old and a short slender build but was dressed in work boot and jeans clearly she was what passed for the maintenance to clear these tress. “Well I better get back to work miss, there trees wont just get up and walk off the road now.” “Of course, but how are you going to move them on your own?” asked Tricia? “I’m not on my own silly, I’ve got Ninja here with me” and she held up a cage with a rather mean looking squirrel inside as if that was meant to explain it all and then turned and started down the road.
