Secure Building Lifted at Eastview Middle School At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, a student found an empty shotgun shell in the hallway. Eastview contacted the Bartlett Police Department and together launched an investigation. The school was immediately put into a “Secure Building.” This means that all students and staff were brought inside and all doors were secured and locked. No visitors were allowed to enter the school. Students were held in their classrooms. At approximately 2:30 PM, the police department and school administration finished the investigation. This included a physical search of all lockers by school administration in conjunction with the police department including the use of police dogs. Nothing else was found. A few key points regarding this incident: • Students and staff were safe. • The search was conducted as a precaution. • There were no threats involved in this incident. • Normal classroom activity continued. • Last hour lunch was served about 50 minutes late. • The Bartlett Police Department assisted throughout the investigation. • Normal activities inside and outside are planned for the rest of the day.
