Security: Oyo APC Accusses FG of Plans to Sabotage Ajimobi POLITICSDec 23, 2014 The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the Federal Government to sabotage the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi by frustrating the efforts to sustain the achievements recorded especially in the area of provision of adequate security. In a statement issued today by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC alleged that some influential members of the Peoples Democratic Party from the state were behind Federal Government’s order withdrawing soldiers from the Oyo State’s special security outfit code-named Operation Burst. “The decision of the PDP-controlled federal government to order the military authority to withdraw their men from Operation Burst is, to say the least, a grand plan to pave way for the nefarious activities of thugs and criminally-minded persons in Oyo State having been miffed by the success recorded by the present administration in the area of security, maintenance of law and order. “Without mincing words, we are worried that a government at the centre which has failed totally to curtail insurgency in some parts of the country as well as kidnapping, armed robbery and other related crimes in other parts can succumb to the pressure from its surrogates in one of the most peaceful states of the federation to sabotage a result-yielding security efforts put in place by a government which truly value the lives and properties of its people. “The whole global community appreciates the quantum of professionalism, dedication and commitment put into the service of Operation Burst security outfit by the men and officers deployed therein. Apparently, this is evident in the success recorded by the present administration in the area of provision of water-tight security across the state even to the acknowledgement of the worst enemy of Gov. Ajimobi and the APC. “But for reasons traceable to their inherent failure in the business of governance coupled with a bid to win the 2015 general elections at all cost, the PDP elements would not be comfortable with the newly found peace in the pacesetter state. With this development, they have further confirmed their culpability in the pocket of politically-motivated violence in some parts of Ibadan in recent past. “However, we call on the well meaning citizens in the country to prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to reverse the order which caused the Army authority to disengage from Operation Burst in Oyo State and desist from further actions capable of exposing the people of the state to another round of insecurity, political violence and social unrest even as we call on residents of the state to remain calm and go about their legitimate businesses without without nursing any fear whatsoever.” Sadare stated.
