Security Votes: Kaduna SSG’s Office Gets N4.8bn The Office of the Secretary to Kaduna State Government will spend a total of N4.8 billion this year as security votes, LEADERSHIP checks have revealed. This is just as the state governor plan to spend over N280 million on purchase of generator fuel this year and a sum of N90million for maintenance of generators. LEADERSHIP checks on the 2014 Appropriation Bill of Kaduna State recently submitted to the State House of Assembly by Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, revealed that the state government has budgeted the sum of N2.1 billion and tagged it security vote and another N2.7 billion security vote (Preventive and supportive) for the SSG’s office. A breakdown of the security votes put together will show that the state government has budgeted the sum of N4.8 billion for security votes with the hope of drawing N400 million monthly as security votes. A further check at the budget shows that the state government has allocated a whooping sum of N400 million to the Office of the Secretary to State Government to be spent on what they tagged as “traditional gifts”. This is apart from the N28.5 million that the SSG is to spend on ‘welfare packages’. A close check into the SSG’s expenditure plan in the next 11 months shows that the sum of N285 million has been earmarked for the purpose of entertainments, and a total of N33.2 million for cleaning services. While a total of N37.6 million has been earmarked for generator fuel, a total sum of N6.2 million has been budgeted by the state government to be spent on maintenance of the SSG’s generator. Another N5.7 million is to be spent on uniforms for the SSG’s office.
