I highly value civic engagement, and part of that includes paying into the public coffers for accountable officials to spend for the public good. Maybe that sounds very idealistic, but I think it’s a better model than everyone out for himself. But, all that said, when there are very extreme situations of gross government misconduct without democratic recourse… that changes things.
