He has suddenly decided to contradict a report he did for UK gov in Feb this year where he stated there was over 24 billion barrels of oil left by now saying there is only 16 billion. Wow. That is a big drop! In 6mths. I smell a rat somehow! Also, watch the BP video below about the new Clair Ridge where it states that it expects to recover 640 million barrels. That is one field alone. One field. This is also the field where there are widespread talk of the findings are now suggesting 3 or 6 x that amount. Now that would be nice! However, do remember, Oil is by no means the be all and end all for Scotland. Even without it we have the same GDP as the UK at the moment. We subsidise the rest of the UK that much. And yes, it wont last forever however, if we vote yes, at least we can make it work for us for those years to help Scotland build a solid, wide economy so that when it does run out our economy will be strong and diversified. Or vote no and have it squandered like it has been for the last 40yrs. Norway found NS oil at the same time as us. Their economy at the time was in a pretty poor state and oil accounts for a much greater proportion of the economy there so potentially they are more afftected by the volatility of the sector. Look at the now. They have an oil fund which, if it were to be distributed to every citizen would make them all millionaires :-) They invested their windfall carefully - perhaps they did not feel the need to go around the world getting involved in wars or wasting shameful BILLIONS on WMD which will never be used.....hopefully. OK, hindsight is a great thing and we cannot turn back the clock but we do have an amazing chance to deliver a better life for our children. That is the difference. Dont waste that chance.
