See below Tyler Civic Theatre 65th Anniversary celebration plans! The festivities will be coordinated with the performances of Cheaper by the Dozen (which opens next week!). TYLER CIVIC THEATRE CENTER ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR OBSERVANCE OF THEIR 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF CONTINUOUS OPERATION Tyler Civic Theatre Center President, Daye Collins, announced their plans for two weeks of special events to observe TCTC’s 65th Anniversary during May 2014. The celebration will be coordinated with the production of “Cheaper by the Dozen”. The performance dates are May 9-11 and May 15-18 and every performance will include a pre-performance recognition of special guests who have contributed to the success of the Theatre over the past 65 years. Starting the festivities will be the dedication of a City of Tyler Historical Subject Marker in honor of TCTC’s founding Director, Alfred E. Gilliam. The Marker will be unveiled on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a.m., at the main entrance to the Theatre at 400 Rose Park Drive. A reception will follow the dedication. All performances will be open to our season ticket holders and the general public. On opening night, Friday, May 9th special recognition will be given to long standing benefactors, program advertisers, and Media representatives; On Saturday, May 10th the Board will host members of area community theatres, past and present actors and directors, representatives from the Texas Non-Profit Theatre Association. On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, a special tribute to Mothers will include a reduced admission price for all family members who escort their mother to the performance; a cookie and lemonade reception will follow the matinee performance. On Thursday, May 15th, Special guests will include elected officials from the City of Tyler and Smith County and their support staff. On Friday, May 16th, recognition of past and present Board Members, staff and TCTC ACT and STAR teachers. On Saturday, May 17th, TCTC will honor all military veterans with complimentary admission and give special recognition to TCTC season ticket holders. On Sunday, May 18th, TCTC will recognize all active and previous volunteers; including, technical (sound and lighting) crew, stage managers, concession workers, property and costume managers, actors and producers. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday Matinees at 2:00 p.m. All performances are in the Braithwaite Theatre at the Theatre Center, 400 Rose Park Drive adjacent to the Tyler Rose Garden Building.
