See important numbers to call at bottom of this post! -----Neighbors crowded into this cozy Tangletown home Saturday to stop the proposed tear down and lot split of 1721 Princeton and create an action plan for the future of Mac/Grove. In attendance was Councilman Chris Tolbert, who has been hard at work addressing problems with the recent rash of teardowns and new construction in St. Paul. Thursday, a neighbors quick thinking and calls to the city blocked the contractors permit to cut and cap the gas line, pipes would have frozen and burst, critically damaging 1721. The permit was rescinded. *At this moment the City has received no new permit applications for demolition or Right of Way (cut and cap of the gas line) and we need to keep new permits from being issued. Macalester has offered to buy back the property from the new owners and are in negotiations with them. We need the house to stay in tact until the City receives word from Macalester. Please call Sara Swenson, 651.266.6575, City of St. Paul, to add your name to the list and ask that the city deny any new permits for demolition or right of way.
