(See link to Picasaweb album by clicking on See More below) The MMFA currently has an interesting exhibition of World War I Recruitment Posters, in commemoration of the start of the war in Aug. 1914, and in memory of Liliane M. Stewart who passed away last year. Mrs. Stewart was a major benefactor of the museum, and was also devoted to the military. The casualty statistics of WWI are staggering, with the advent of modern mechanized warfare: 65-million soldiers, more than 8.5-million killed, 21-million wounded, and another 8-million listed as prisoners or missing. More than 6.5-million civilian deaths were also recorded. Recruitment posters from several countries are exhibited, including posters aimed at French-Canadians and Jewish Montrealers. A selection of these posters is included in this new Picasaweb album. The exhibition continues until March 29th. https://picasaweb.google/irvingrudy/WorldWarIRecruitmentPostersMMFADec192014?authkey=Gv1sRgCJ3Q0ZyZ_eGeXQ# https://mbam.qc.ca/en/exhibitions/on-view/the-patriotism-of-death/
