See this short photo report from the Wicking Garden Beds workshop I taught at the Environment Centre at Annagrove on Thursday, Oct 23rd (the same day we won the gardening competition award!). The day started with a short talk about the ways to keep water in the soil and what methods of watering to employ during summer. Then we went outside to the garden to make a self-watering wicking garden bed using a small plastic pond container. The photographs show the process, so please have a look at them if you are interested. I hope to hear from the gardening volunteers about how the vegetables planted in this bed performed during summer!
