See what the students are doing at Vanderbilt Charter Academy following the Rachels Challenge event on October 10, 2013: One of our 6th grade students was diagnosed with Leukemia this summer and has been in the hospital for the majority of the school year. At our first FOR meeting, the students came up with a project idea of raising money for her family. Her family is struggling to pay the bills and put gas in their car to go see their daughter. So the first project will be organizing a 5K event (hopefully near Thanksgiving--a Turkey Trot) and all the proceeds will go to her. The students are meeting after school on Fridays and at lunch on Mondays. We love what this is going to do for our school community!
