See you rain or shine Saturday morning 9-11! Here is our beautifully written press release... HELPING HEARTS, AN AWARENESS AND GIFT GIVING EVENT CPR Training by American Heart Association In Loving Memory of Dr. Vance LeCrone THE WOODLANDS, TX – (December 2, 2014) To celebrate the season of giving this month, The LeCrone Family & Hunter Family Orthodontics is paying tribute to Dr. Vance LeCrone by sharing the opportunity to learn life-saving CPR training. “Helping Hearts,” an awareness and giving-focused event, promotes the importance of CPR training in the community, as well as the benefits of staying “heart healthy.” The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 6 from 9-11 a.m. in the parking lot of Hunter Family Orthodontics at 6704 Sterling Ridge Drive. “Vance’s legacy of giving and generosity reached far beyond the doors of our orthodontic office. He had a heart of absolute gold. He loved this community and his patients,” said Amy LeCrone, wife of Dr. Vance LeCrone and event organizer. “Since the early days of our loss, it had been on my heart to host a CPR awareness event for this community in memory of Vance. When I learned from The American Heart Association that only 14% of Montgomery County knows CPR, that really got me moving and I was quickly called into action. Research indicates across the nation, 40% of the population knows how to administer CPR. My goal is for our local statistic to at least reach that national average by 2017. Putting this event together with the help of many wonderful friends has given the children and me a meaningful way to honor Vance during the difficult holiday season, while at the same time giving back as he taught us to the community he loved so much. Helping Hearts has a purpose, and together we can make a difference and save a life.” Many local businesses and organizations are reciprocating Dr. LeCrone’s generosity by supporting the “Helping Hearts” event. Dr. Justin Shults, anesthesiologist and close friend of Dr. LeCrone, will be the lead facilitator for onsite CPR instruction. Training manikins are being offered courtesy of AON Hewitt and The American Heart Association, and kneeling yoga mats are donated by Pure Barre. Dr. LeCrone saved many lives as an organ donor through LIFE GIFT, and in his honor, the organization will register donors onsite at the event. Kid-friendly activities include healthy heart exercise led by PE teachers from Coulson Tough, face painting by The Highland Girls, “Touch a Fire Truck and Ambulance” with The Woodlands Fire Department, and holiday ornament making. A special tile-creating station donated by Potteryland allows kids to make “heart-themed” tiles that will be used to make concrete benches for auctioning at the 2015 “Heart Ball.” Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. “Kids in the Kitchen” team lets kids prepare their own healthy snack with “Granola on the Go.” Cardiologists and clinicians from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and Healing Hearts Cardiology Practice furnishes an informal “Ask the Doctor” Q&A table, teaching measurement of blood pressure readings, and demonstrating the use of AEDs. Texas Children’s Hospital promotes healthy hearts at their kids-focused education table. Breakfast, coffee, and cocoa is generously provided by several local establishments including Kroger Sterling Ridge and its affiliated Starbucks, Red Mango, Brooklyn Cafe, Whole Foods, Pure Healthy Eatery, Corner Bakery Cafe, The Club at Carlton Woods, and Katz’s Deli. In the spirit of giving, all guests are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for local families in need, benefiting Moms Helping Moms Texas.
