After some speculation that Paramount could shift the release of the Martin Scorsese movie Wolf of Wall Street from November to early 2014 in order to give the director time to finish the flick, the Los Angeles Times is reporting that the movie will instead debut on Christmas Day -- a cause for celebration! leonardo dicaprio dancing gif That means that the Chris Pine-starring Tom Clancy reboot Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, also distributed by Paramount and initially set for a Christmas release, will likely be bumped to next year. No confirmation on that move has been forthcoming -- Paramount declined to comment on the LAT story -- so expect an update in the coming weeks. Late last month, rumors surfaced that Scorsese was having trouble cutting Wolf down, with the film clocking in at more than three hours and missing its expected sneak-peek debut at the New York Film Festival. The LAT reports that Wolf was originally set to open Nov. 15, but Scorsese and longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker have not yet finished the movie, and making that date has long been considered impossible. The Oscar-winning director is currently in the process of trimming the film, LAT says, which is still running around 180 minutes. But Wolfs new Christmas debut date now gives the production time to perfect the picture, and places it firmly in a position to compete in an awards season race that could potentially snag Scorsese another statuette.
