Seeing a lot of hostility towards artists and record labels over - TopicsExpress

Seeing a lot of hostility towards artists and record labels over the years. People acting like artists and companies owe the fans or music is art or my personal favorite people shouldnt be paid to do what they enjoy. The actual reality is that being a musician of any genre is hard work. An album costs hundreds, thousands, and often times millions of dollars to produce. Most artists out there especially in the underground scene work 40 hours a week on top of making time to record music and play shows they get paid next to nothing in comparison to how much money it costs to get to the gig. Most the time, a lot of artists are lucky if they make a profit off of merchandise sells at a gig. And yet, they push on. Realistically, if you factor in all the costs behind producing albums, distribution, etc $5 to $20 a CD or T Shirt really isnt expensive. Being a musician is very tough work, and so is the behind the scenes production. So to everyone out there complaining about the costs of albums and music related merchandise...Just saying.
