Seeing all the growth happening in Calgary and Alberta, I think about my native country, Venezuela. Arguably with more resources than Alberta, in the last 15 years of revolution, the government of Venezuela has not been able to make my country more competitive, more attractive to foreign investments, more secure, more healthy, more just. Instead, the revolution has turned once a thriving economy, a political stable country, a magnet for immigrants, a vibrant democracy, the most developed country in Latin America, and a society poised to become a developed country, into a chaotic state, a country in despair.
