Seeing the beautiful full moon shining through my window, slowly - TopicsExpress

Seeing the beautiful full moon shining through my window, slowly descending in these early morning hours inspired me to write this... As I consider how awesome it is to look up at the moon from here on Earth, how much more incredible it must be to look out at Earth, Gods prized creation, from... the moon! :D Before Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped out of their lunar aircraft to take that first momentous step onto the surface of the moon in what would be famously known as, One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, before they did any of that... Aldrin pulled out a Bible and sacramental bread and wine and his first act was to observe communion. Frank Boreman, the Command Pilot for Gemini 7 and Apollo 8 missions, who upon viewing Earth from orbit, was so struck by what he saw that quoted Genesis 1, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Later explaining, I had an enormous feeling that there had to be a power greater than any of us-that there was a God, that there was indeed a beginning. Consider these quotes from other astronauts who were so moved by the sight of Earth from outer space, Gods perfect creation, that they could only attribute it to be a manifestation Gods majesty, mercy, and love... “Suddenly, from behind the rim of the moon, in long, slow-motion moments of immense majesty, there emerges a sparkling blue and white jewel, a light, delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white, rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes more than a moment to fully realize this is Earth . . . home. ... “My view of our planet was a glimpse of divinity.” - Edgar Mitchell, Lunar module pilot of Apollo 14, 6th man on moon “The Earth reminded us of a Christmas tree ornament hanging in the blackness of space. As we got farther and farther away it diminished in size. Finally it shrank to the size of a marble, the most beautiful marble you can imagine. That beautiful, warm, living object looked so fragile, so delicate, that if you touched it with a finger it would crumble and fall apart. Seeing this has to change a man, has to make a man appreciate the creation of God and the love of God.” - James Irwin, Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15, 8th man on moon “To look out at this kind of creation out here and not believe in God is to me impossible, ... It just strengthens my faith. I wish there were words to describe what its like.” - John Glenn, First American to orbit Earth, 5th man in space *** The heavens declare the glory of God. - Psalm 19:1 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. - Isaiah 40:22 For God SO LOVED the world, that He gave His one and ONLY SON, so that WHOEVER [on this planet] believes in HIM, should not perish BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!!! - John 3:16 .
