Good times or bad I am compelled to perform my duty and tasks. I am seeking special contributors to help me complete my next book. What Really Happened, the True Stories of the Sixties. Yes, I am seeking financial support to help me complete this work. What would it take? What could I do for you that would make it safe for you to support my work? Back in the day, the Blacks as they termed themselves (African Americans to be politically correct) coined the phrase, “What’s happenin’?” Well, this book tells what really happened. I know because, hell I was there. People have been trying to get me to rewrite this book for almost two decades. I wrote it once in long hand and it was a pretty damn good manuscript, if I do say so myself. But, as many of my friends know, at the time I was going through the heaviest loss of my life—my wife’s passing over. One night up at camp at Rose Valley in an effort to let go of my past, I tossed it (the manuscript) into the camp fire, along with a favorite piece of her jewelry. If you knew anything about me at all, you would know this book has been beating at my brain for over twelve years to come out. Hence, What Really Happened, the True Stories of the Sixties—for a whole new. For a New Age audience of teens and 20-somethings wanting to know what the hell that era was really all about. Yes, I was involved with the Viet Nam War protests, equal rights marches and a few rather serious complications with the police. But this book is about the time, the music, free love, and the important messages that John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and Joan Baez imparted to me—along with a whole bunch of other famous and not-so-famous musicians. Would you ever guess that this organic farmer and author of twenty books was once the hairdresser and makeup man for the musical Hair? It’s true… What helped shape this teenagers life during turbulent times was the fact that we lost JFK, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and famous-great musicians like Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morison. As the decade was unfolding into higher consciousness and leading to what could have been a better way. It did not succeed; the reasons are many and some the deciding factors how we ended up with President Nixon and where we are today. These stories must be told. These stories have been fighting their way out of me in bed every night for over twelve years, and the time has come to let ‘em flow. I was in San Francisco for the Summer of Love, at the Sunset Strip riot, the Century Plaza shooting of Robert Kennedy and Janis Joplin’s first live performance at the Fillmore Auditorium. I knew every rock musician you can name. How? Because I started the Northern Lights light show, complete with funky equipment thrown away by ABC television when they vowed to never use it again—because Dick Clark would not allow the psychedelic lights! This was a time of upheaval no doubt, but recall, the important messages. This was when the New Thought age really began to take hold, with the help of Timothy Leary, Alan Ginsburg, and Jack Kerouac, and that led into the folk music that followed, Peter Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio, of course Bob Dylan, and finally the Beatles. Then ‘60s music exploded with the Rolling Stones, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and literally hundreds of groups that helped create and shape the youth and politics for years to follow. The ‘60s as we happy few knew them started with Martin Luther King, the Summer of Love, and Woodstock and ended with Altamont. When things changed from pot and LSD to speed and heroin, the era got away from us, but—who knows—this book might help revive some of what was lost. In any case, I have to tell it, share it, and then finally get some rest—oh wait, after it’s published and read by a million folks. Today, we are experiencing rapidly changing paradigms not unlike we did during the ‘60s, and I am hoping my stories will be a beneficial influence to help guide our way through the maze of insanity and lead us to our ultimate destination: peace. According to one of my mentors- John Lennon “we have no other choice. We have no other choice expect total annihilation”… My prayer today is that there are true believers out there in the world somewhere who will be the answer to my request to the universe to deliver support to help insure the completion of this book and its successful publishing. I have several options to offer a partner/backer. What Really happened, the True Story of the Sixties, is important for me to complete, and I pray is important to you. I have four tapes of recorded material to work with; they have to be transcribed and from there turned into chapters and made to sing with a polished final product. Plus I have perhaps six more books I want to get out before leaving this body. Thank you God/Goddess for sending the perfect person support this project; when it’s complete and I am fully recovered, I will resume work on Many Roads Traveled, a novel based on a true story of escape from torture during the Russian Revolution, and then “Return To Open Spaces: The Final Chapter”, “In Service of Her God”, and perhaps a few more. While our President and Hillary Clinton are beating the drums for war against Iran, a war which could lead to World War III, this book will be instrumental in passing the message of peace to its readers and, through them, the rest of the world.
