Seems like a good place to toss out Occams razor. While it seems intuitive to blame lower income on brain differences, I suspect it could be much simpler. *School.* In elementary schools, kids learn skills like writing by mimicry. They copy the teachers actions, like when learning to write. Lefty kids, if they have a right-handed teacher, havent developed the cognitive skill to reverse the actions of their teachers. Thats why lefties learn to write a little later and have sloppy-ass handwriting. But wait! Theres more. When lefties get to college, theyre pretty much forced to use the tiny desks designed for right-handed students. The discomfort of the contorted position gets distracting, which interferes with the ability to focus, thus negatively affecting grades. In summary, this effect could probably be fixed if we hired left-handed elementary school teachers and used ambidextrous desks in college.
