Seems that a lot of people are now only hearing about the delay - TopicsExpress

Seems that a lot of people are now only hearing about the delay for the first time. So first and foremost, yes, the game has been delayed for the 2nd time and will not be launching today. And now a very real explanation on why the release date was not met. MMO games are the hardest types of games to develop, the sheer coding that is involved is amongst the most intricate (and frankly, complicated) language on the planet. Its far easier to develop a game whereby the only player is you, interacting with variables. To develop a program that allows you to move 2 metres up and subsequently have you move 2 metres up on everyone who is viewing your area is extremely complex, this isnt Tetris. So, why is Konka delaying yet again? Project delays are very common place in game development. In 2014, there were at least 20 large AAA games (games developed by the largest companies) that were publically delayed. Even with unlimited budgets and teams of 200+ developers, delays still do happen. Anyone who has experience with software development will understand this. So now you may be asking, why do I never hear about more of these games being delayed? The answer is because 99% of all games are announced with a release date once 95% of the game is built. They only need to polish certain elements and then have it published and shipped, by which point the media has gotten its hands on the game and notify everyone. The exact same will happen with Ocean at War, 90% of the players who will end up playing the game will not hear about it until we have announced it on a much larger media scale. When we set up Konka, the promise was to develop this game for you, the players with the help of you the players. You have all been given a window into game development, sharing the highs and the lows. Whilst many people are not aware of what we are doing, this delay, whilst not acceptable or foreseen, is part of the process and we can only apologise. But we will never apologise for having you all involved in the process since the beginning, regardless of many people not understanding our stance or what we are trying to achieve. So please do keep in mind that whilst many are disappointed, this is unique to Konka in the sense that we have given you all the opportunity to grow with us. This is a setback but speaking as if Konka is the only company in gaming to ever miss a deadline is very, very incorrect. Almost all games miss deadlines, you are just never there from the start to see it.
