Seems that my Pro Israel and all round crap Conservative MP Simon - TopicsExpress

Seems that my Pro Israel and all round crap Conservative MP Simon Reevell, is now beginning to feel the heat from his constituents. People are now lobbying him in considerable numbers it seems. This is a little better than his usual pathetic responses (he supports military aid to Israel btw, doesnt give a crap about the siege on Gaza, which ive contacted him about numerous times and completely skips over Israeli War Crimes) Still a quite pathetic response however. Just look at the last paragraph. #StopArmingIsrael Dear Waris, Thank you for your email. I think that the first point that it is important to remember is that this is not a conflict of Israel against Palestine, but rather of Israel against Hamas and we must acknowledge that Israel moves against Hamas precisely because Hamas fires rockets at Israeli citizens. I have no doubt that there is no particular antipathy between ordinary Israelis and ordinary Palestinians and that neither want to be caught in the middle of this conflict as they currently are. It is a matter of record that Hamas uses the homes and businesses of ordinary Palestinians as shelter for their rocket attacks on Israel and just as I would not expect our Government to ignore rockets attacks on England, nor would I expect Israel to overlook such attacks by Hamas. That said, it is imperative that Israel’s response to these attacks is compatible with its obligations as a modern, democratic and accountable nation and I do not think that this is currently the case. I believe that the ongoing operation has gone too far, not only in terms of the damage inflicted on homes and businesses in Gaza, but most particularly in terms of the civilian death and injury tolls. These suggest to me that this operation has neither been planned, nor executed with sufficient care. They also indicate that too much emphasis has been placed on clearing out Hamas, while too little has been placed on the humanitarian and infrastructural costs to ordinary Palestinians. Some people have written to me asking why the Government has not done more stop this tragedy. The simple answer is that we can no more stop Israel’s military operation in Gaza than we can prevent Hamas from firing rockets at Israel. It is for both parties, Israel and Hamas, to show restraint and the Government has now called on both to do so on a number of occasions. Kind regards, Simon
