Seems the Rosetta Mission continues to deliver the predicted “shocks to the system” of comet science. No evidence of a dirty snowball, and an abundance of molecules never expected at the comets present distance from the Sun. The cause cannot be warming by the Sun. Cosmic electric currents - (eg Birkeland currents) are caused by a potential voltage difference which forms the electric field. The electrical discharge is in fact a plasma discharge, not unlike lightening and is often mistakenly called Solar Wind by cosmologists who have yet to understand the electromagnetic dynamics of this inter reaction. Electric currents (of charged particles or ions/electrons in a confining conductor are always accompanied by a magnetic field where the field strength is inversely proportional to the radial distance from it. However in a free space situation (lightening/Birkeland current) the magnetic field behaves differently with both the Electric and Magnetic fields of each and every Coulomb of charge travelling along with it. The magnetic field spirals along the Birkeland current and its overall magnetic strength or amplitude of the total magnetic field surrounding the current decreases mor slowly - asymptotic with the inverse of the square root of the radial distance. The combined collective force then on charged particles is greater that that of a straight conductor 1/r and considerably greater than what can be expected from gravity 1/r^2. Cosmologist have yet to concede the fact the Plasma is the universal driving force collecting matter together close enough for gravity to do its thing.
