Seems to be a lot of hate out there for 2014, guess mine wasnt as bad as others. I am thankful for 2014 and took this first morning to reflect on some of the highlights: Adventures - Backpacked through the Okefenokee Swamp, hiked Rim to Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon and stayed at Phantom Ranch, saw sunlight beams in Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, visited Horseshoe Bend, visited caves in TN with Doug, hiked-swam under 25+ waterfalls, visited Smoky Mountain National Park, backpacked a section of the AT with buddies, visited Asheville, learned what SEC tailgating is all about. Work Travel - Got to go to Kansas, Washington state, Los Angeles, New York City, Oklahoma City, Denver, New Orleans, Philadelphia, upstate New York, and Chicago. Presented and published since joining the CDC - this pumps me up a lot - which fuels the love for my job. Personal - Started some of the most amazing friendships that one could ever hope for, began Crossfit and lost 29 lbs (I might have put 5 on over the holidays, but Ill get that back down), ran a 6:00 mile again (and my fastest half split in 8 years), stayed close with my family even though I am farther away, officially started the dissertation process, read 24 books outside of school/work, donated the maximal allowable amount of blood in a calendar year, ate a cupcake in one bite, learned to cook eggs 5 different ways, met my brothers wonderful girlfriend, and foodied out all over the place (check that IG account out :P). A sunrise signifies so many important things to me - a new day, a new chapter, new life, a new chance, new opportunity, and hope. Here is a the timelapse sunrise from one of the most beautiful spots on the planet, Cocoa Ridge with Talia Christine. Everyone gets 365 sunrises this 2015, make sure you enjoy every single one of them!
