The crassest form of capitalism and ineffective, poorly borrowed governance/ development models have created several generations of increasingly corrupt minds and an environment in which everyone grabs for himself and cares not if the next person has any hope; a situation in which present consumption is more important than securing and planning for the future. Africas biggest challenge is not material poverty as some will have us believe, it is a poverty of character and workable, home-grown ideas, a deepening dearth of sustainable community development, creative leadership and a constructively conscious public; it is the kind of poverty that ensures that a people never rise out of their lowly state and, thus, continue to be exploited by their internal and external abusers.
