Segun Oni takes back His Rights: The Lamentations, The Truth! By Sunshine Anifowose Some groundnut Activists masquerading as Lawyers have condemned the much-acknowledged decision of Governor Ayo Fayose to restore all the privileges of former Governor of Ekiti State, Engr Segun Oni and His Deputy, Sikiru Lawal. One Professor Tysa Sagae, SAN, said the action of Fayose was unconstitutional because Justice Salami had invalidated Onis election. Another critic, Charles Ugowon, SAN spoke too much of grammar before he rounded his statement up with the Fayoses action was illegal. However, Felix Fagbohungbe, SAN to me, spoke sensibly. He opined that the court made a pronouncement that the election that produced Oni contravenes the provisions of the constitution, but the court never stated CATEGORICALLY that Segun Oni was not an Ex-governor of Ekiti State. Dear readers, It is imperative to state here that former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan still enjoys the rights and privileges of a past head of state even though his appointment and government was sacked and declared illegal by Justice Dolapo Akinsanya (rtd) in 1993. Justice Dolapo never ruled that Shonekan is not a former Nigerian Leader. Greatest people of Nigeria, I do not blame our professional critics condemning the decision of Fayose in respect of Segun Oni, they are political characters embedded with vendetta. Forgiveness is a CRIME in the dictionary of their party, the APC. Their thought was that Fayose will pursue Oni out of Ifaki-Ekiti because he didnt support him. They are disappointed that Governor Fayose approved the appointment of Fayemis monarch, Onisan of Isan-Ekiti as a Lecturer in EKSU. They had thought Fayose would dethrone Onisan for not allowing him to campaign at Isan-Ekiti. Further more, our APC friends had thought that Barr. Omotoso that presided over the kangaroo panel that indicted Fayose in 2006 would be sent to exile, instead, Gov Fayose has sworn him in as a judge on the recommendation of the NJC. Remember that Dr. Fayemi that used Omotoso against Fayose refused to inaugurate him for 3 years? Vengeance is of the God! God bless Fayose!
