Sekolah kebangsaan vs vernacular schools . I am been following the recent discussion about the sekolah kebangsaans versus vernacular schools with interest and amusement. Each side has its own points and are passionate. And at the same time, a lot of arguments are emotional. . But what most people dont seem to see is that the school system in Malaysia is very diverse. It is more than just national schools and vernacular schools. We have international schools which Malaysian students go to, we have private schools which follow the KBSM syllabus, we have private schools which dont use the KBSM syllabus, we have sekolah agama, we have private sekolah agama, sekolah berasrama penuh, sekolah pondok, sekolah sukan, sekolah wawasan, sekolah vokasional, sekolah teknik, etc, etc. We even have a private Punjabi school. And most of these schools are compartmentalised (albeit loosely) on the basis of race, religion, language, wealth, academic ability, etc. . So... what do we mean by one school for all? Saya konpius. What is the meaning of satu sekolah untuk semua?
