Seldom are there guitar solos in the music of Rush. But this is one of them. In 2008 I saw them live at Chicagos sold-out United Center (18,000+ seats).Alex Lifeson is one of the great guitar players. This particular song, when it was played by Alex, was so damn beautiful I cried. Hope is one of three instrumentals on the 2007 Rush album Snakes & Arrows. The song was composed solely by guitarist Alex Lifeson. According to Neil Peart, the title of the instrumental was inspired by the chorus of the Snakes & Arrows track Faithless, which contains the word Hope. At 2 minutes 2 seconds, it is the bands second shortest studio-album-song. Lifeson plays the song on a twelve-string guitar. He recorded it in just two takes. A live version of Hope was nominated for a Grammy Award. It appeared on the compilation disc, Songs for Tibet, recorded in May 2008 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. youtu.be/Zqwf46rvKao
