Self-driving cars are not the future - theyre already here. - TopicsExpress

Self-driving cars are not the future - theyre already here. Driverless trucks are only matter of time. Imagine a night on the town, you jump in your car drunk and it drives you home. On the way home the seats swivel to form a lounge... Now, imagine never having to own, maintain, or upgrade a car, ever! You simply book one when you need (like a library), it drives to you and continues to its next destination after use, thus reducing the amount of cars needed to sustainable levels, as on average, people use a car an hour or so each day. Ownership is actually a burden, not a convenience. Or, do we prefer working our entire lives away at a job we hate just to pay for an illusion of success? You see, all of this is wonderful, but in a monetary system automation means no jobs - no purchasing power to maintain the system or ourselves. So, we wind up with a world living on the benefit scraps of whatever a corporate elite hand out, which, in light of the fact that almost all of the 7 billion people on earth now live in relative to extreme poverty, will be very little. Not to mention there is no monetary incentive to reduce the amount of cars or anything else - environmental collapse is guaranteed if we do not change our minds. Even if your job can not be automated - there are very few that can not be, and will not be, as it is more profitable to automate - the remaining population will not be able to support your income anyway (most people are already experiencing that...). Plus, we will all be living in an extremely poverty stricken and violent world. Stop accepting the scraps and start participating.
