Self esteem is great. Ultimately, happiness is more important than anything. However, just because someone has great self-esteem does not mean they are healthy in other areas - regardless of their body fat percentage and appearance. This girl seems to be an example of a person who has good fitness levels along with a higher body fat percentage. Great. Everyone will look different when they are optimally healthy - not necessarily having defined muscular tone. APE seeks to destroy the propaganda associated with inflicting psychologically damaging body-image expectations on the youth. However, we also do not want to see a bunch of people saying that just because they are confident and happy with their obesity, they are healthy. The girl in this video may be an example of true health in a larger body size, but much of the time obesity and overweight individuals have more long-term health risks to deal with that can end their lives prematurely. Remember this: - Fitness is a only portion of health, not an entire picture. - Body image only effects health psychologically. - Those in society who are part of the judgers are severely limited by their own understanding of fitness, of health, and of the judged individual. Their judgements may be hurtful, but they are not necessarily valid by any means. Just remember that. If someone looks down on you for who you are, try feel sorry for them that they limit themselves in that way because they are ill educated and probably have viewpoints that change with the trends of the fitness industry. We are the way we are for certain reasons. By educating ourselves we can find more fulfilling reasons to either change or stay the same depending on what is best for us, individually.
