Selfies are a modern cultural phenomenon. They seem to be - TopicsExpress

Selfies are a modern cultural phenomenon. They seem to be everywhere: on social media, in advertisements, and even in accessories to make taking selfies easier (ahem selfie pole). While the selfie isn’t inherently negative, it is true that when we focus solely on ourselves, it is easy to forget God. As we heard on Sunday, this is a primary goal of our enemy, to encourage us to seek our own good above the good of God’s kingdom. However, Jesus has said, Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:25) And this is the promise we cling to when we are faced with temptation, that true life will only be found in God. Be encouraged by the testimony of the disciples, who resisted the enemy, and lived for the Kingdom of God. “They triumphed over him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” (Revelation 12:11) Praise God that through the sacrifice of Christ we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. Let us just be alert and of sober mind that we do not let our souls align to our self seeking above God’s. [The Existence of The Devil, realitysf/sermon/the-existence-of-the-devil/, 1.11.15]
