Semi Finals in Hawaii NZ Black have done it - through to the finals being played here in Hawaii on Sunday morning.. The Kiwis played Sydney based Drummoyne U18 girls and what a game. The score did not reflect the type of game this semi became. The NZ girls played an outstanding pressing game and had the girls from Sydney unable to find a way through. The game was played under the lights so it took the teams a while to settle but the kiwis were first on the scoreboard in the semi final with a great goal from Centre Forward Emily Nicholson, who has had a steady tournament throughout. The score at the end of the first quarter NZ 2 Drummoyne 0. The team from Sydney tried everything to get past our kiwi girls but so tight was the defense they couldnt make their shots count. Goalie Chantelle Conroy had a solid game in the first half and saved a number of long shots the Aussies tried to get past us. Try as they may, Drummoyne could not make those shots count tonight. Coach Claridge and Dorman continued the press game which did have the Sydney based team agitated. The Kiwi girls did it well and continued to the end of the game staying in front. Final score through to the final 6-2.
