Sen. Kahn: Students deserve better... A professor at Michigan State University opened the first day of his creative writing class on Thursday by bashing Mitt and Ann Romney and ranting against “old Republicans” who he says “raped” the country, according to a student who made a secret recording of the class. State Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, offered the following statement on the professor’s remarks. “I have seen the video of Professor William Penn’s address to his students at MSU. In addition to his racist remarks and insults to Republicans he characterizes himself as a child of the 60s. I am not only a Republican man and thus according to” Professor” Penn a dead or dying white person but I am also a child of the 60s. These comments remind me of when people threatened, spit on and attacked service men and women during the 60’s. “That experience, I think, characterizes Penn pretty well: he is threatening and brainwashing students and using his power position to do so. This sort of climate in a university class demands a clear and effective administrative policy and action to protect students from professors who force their political beliefs on their students.”
