Sen. Ross Tolleson qualified for re-election today to represent the 20th District which includes Bleckley, Laurens and Pulaski counties along with a portion of Houston County. Sen. Tolleson was sworn into the State Senate in 2003 and has served as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee since 2005. Ross is also Vice-Chairman of the Rules Committee and a member of the Appropriations, Assignments and Transportation committees. “It remains my great honor to serve District 20 and all the fine people and businesses within middle Georgia,” said Sen. Tolleson. “This is my home and I remain passionate about solving issues and striving to bring fiscally responsible, pro-business legislation that continues the progress of our great district.” Senator Tolleson graduated from the Westfield School in Perry, Ga. in 1975 where he was a member of the golf, football, and basketball teams. He attended the University of Georgia in Athens where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and later returned to Perry to become vice president of Tolleson Supply Company for 19 years. He is a financial advisor for UBS Paine Webber in Macon. Ross and Lowell Shepley, also a Perry resident, are the founding partners of the Shepley-Tolleson Financial Group. Senator Tolleson also serves as a member of the U.S. Department of Energy Intergovernmental Committee on Nuclear Energy, the Energy & Environment Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators, Southeastern Energy Board and the Statewide Water Council. Georgians will vote in the primary elections on May 20th and the general elections on November 4th, 2014.
