Senate Defence Committee salutes the defenders of Pakistan On the occasion of the Defence of Pakistan Day, marking September 6, 1965, when the Pakistani Nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their valiant Armed Forces to defend our country from foreign aggression, we salute the defenders of Pakistan, soldiers and civilians, who offered the supreme sacrifice. We also express solidarity with the families of the martyrs and they should hold their heads high, because the blood of their kith and kin has not been shed in vain. On that historic occasion, the Pakistani Nation rose to the occasion and proved to the world that size does not equal strength and that the spirit of sacrifice is superior to the numbers of the enemy. Today, also, 48 years later, the Pakistani Nation is fighting a battle to preserve, promote and protect the glorious legacy of the Founding Fathers of Pakistan, led by the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah so we and the coming generations can live and thrive in a society based on Islamic and human values of tolerance, pluralism and an inclusive democracy, building a better tomorrow with no overlords and no underdogs. The sacrifices of our soldiers and civilians alike, shall, inshallah, cement the nation, united around a common purpose and commitment to the ideals that led to the creation of Pakistan. Pakistan Zindabad!
