Senator Adegbenga Kaka The representative of Ogun-East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, has said he and some of his colleagues in the National Assembly defected to the Social Democratic Party from the All Progressives Congress to satisfy the wish of aggrieved members within the APC. He said this on Sunday while speaking with journalists after inaugurating two blocks of three classrooms he donated to Muslim Primary School, Imodi-Ijebu in the Odogbolu Local Government Area and Zumurat-ul-Islamiyyah Primary School, Ojumele-Makun, Sagamu, as well as the foundation laying at St. Paul Primary School, Ijoku, Sagamu Local Government Area. Apart from satisfying the wish of the aggrieved members, he said contrary to insinuations within the ruling APC, the SDP would contest elective positions in 2015 elections. He said, “The SDP in Ogun State will present candidates for all the elective positions in the 2015 general elections. The SDP will contest and win elections in 2015 to the chagrin of those bent on destroying the state.” Kaka said the party was not out to spoil anybody’s chances, but it would win elective positions because it represented the wish and aspirations of the people. He added, “We are the true representatives of the people. So, if we have promoted some people and they have failed the people, we still have to go back to the people and tell them that it is not the message we sent them. “That is not the direction we want them to go. This is the direction; this is the way forward and that is the exact thing we are doing and we are so confident that the people know their leaders and they know those that they have tried and trust. “So, by the grace of God we are far from playing any spoiler role. We are out to win and win handsomely to the chagrin of those who are destroying the state.” Kaka, who did not foreclose reconciliation with the APC, however, said there were no signs that it could happen anymore. He said, “It is less than three months to the elections, and by now contestants are already submitting their nomination forms. There are no signs that reconciliation is still possible. But let us leave it for God for now.” The event was also attended by the deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun. Adesegun said, “Four days ago, I was somewhere and I observed some people saying a particular person would win the forthcoming elections. I laughed.”
