Senator Harkin is looking for witnesses for a roundtable in Washington, DC on June 17 to honor the Olmstead decision and demonstrate its impact on people with disabilities. His office is looking for people who could serve as potential witnesses. Senator Harkin is looking for people who can speak to community living/deinstitutionalization from several perspectives. Some good possible witnesses might be: -Two individuals who have moved out of institutions or nursing homes because of the Olmstead decision -A couple with intellectual disabilities who live independently -A person with a significant acquired physical disability who receives community supports to live independently -A representative of the Independent Living movement who supports individuals as they move out of institutional settings -A representative of services organization that provides personal care support to people with more significant disabilities.
