Senator Melanie Sojourner (Chris McDaniels campaign manager) posted this comment on Paul Browns post on this page. It was so good I thought it deserved its own post. ******************************************************************************************** Her Comment: Incredible post Paul Brown... I am so proud of you for making this stand! After ten of the most exhausting months of my life it is heart wrenching to hear how some in the media portray this campaign. Weve watched as they tried to destroy and demonize one of the finest men Ive ever known. He has been portrayed as the most despicable things a man could be and even I have been accused of bring a criminal. It has been the most appalling experience of my life. Why? All because we dared to fight for what we believed was right? Even when it meant against those within our own party. The media is saying we ran a horrible campaign, that we did nothing right. Really? Outside of the establishment machine there was no structure in place to support a campaign for a true conservative in Mississippi. No staff, database, donor network, media source... nothing. We had to build it all... then we amassed a volunteer network representing all 82 counties unlike any other MS campaign has ever seen, we successfully solicited donors from all 50 states and toured the state like had never been done. In doing all of this we were taking on the biggest and most powerful names in the Republican Party, they out spent us 6-1 and in the end on June 3rd we captured more republican votes than any other campaign in MS history. They said to close the deal wed have to expand our base and we did by increasing our numbers by adding 30,000 conservatives. Unheard of in Mississippi history. I will not, for one moment just because Thad Cochran and Haley Barbour abandoned the Republican Party platform for their own selfish protection, allow history to record the efforts of thousands of Mississippi patriots as being one of the worst campaigns ever ran in MS. No way... we out worked them and maneuvered them from day one till the end among republican voters. They had to recruit in excess of 50,000 democrats by using race-baiting and liberal scare tactics to find success. I am incredibly proud of the effort of so many of you on this thread and forever proud of the movement you have started in Mississippi. We would not be here without Chris McDaniel... but wed have never made it this far without each of you!!
