Senators and congress are OVERPAID government officials. Politicians put money in their offices, amounts only the top executives of the world can dream off. The work the constitution requires of them are not commensurate to the billions of pesos they put in their offices through salaries, allowances, funds, etc. The most important job congress does is to pass the yearly budget and oversee the budget they pass. 100 days of work a year, to pass a yearly budget is more than enough time for congress to finish its job. The 1st constitution did not allow the members of the assembly to receive money or compensation from govt. Because they didnt have to work all year round in the first place. Our fore fathers saw it wise to limit congressional benefits over the office they hold and did not allow the power to appropriate and implement the budget to rest in the same person or the same department. Separating these powers to protect people money collected through taxes from abusive politicians and officials. We must restore the same principles back into our government. On the other hand, if congress is over paid for holding less than 2% of the yearly budget, what becomes of the executive that has control over the rest? We must reform the budget re-educate our leaders and the young about the original purpose of civil government. No one man or department must be allowed sole discretion of the budget through lump sums and discretionary funds through the Pork barrel system. Today we have an executive and congressional department that has destroyed the limits and boundaries the constitution laid down to protect peoples money from abuse. Our leader has created a govt that is withholding more than half of peoples earnings and wastes them at the same time through the Pork Barrel System. Politicians living like kings all at the expense of people. Id rather have no civil govt, than have one like this. A govt that will take half of what I make every year through forced taxation, tax my land till they get it from me, and control my business through policies. Our fore father did not fight and die for freedom to establish a civil govt who shall take peoples money and control land and natural resources. They fought for freedom to abolish this very system our leaders has created, and make land, resources available to every filipino family. The end goal of liberty is land for every family. The young heroes established a civil govt to make sure that no one man or government takes away from individuals and families their liberties to life, liberty, property and be on their own. Govt powers were limited so not to allow any man or governments to dominate peoples lives and intervene in peoples businesses. The society our young heroes dreamed off is no longer the society our leaders have created. We must restore the liberties and once again dream and work for the freedoms our young heroes dreamed off.
