Senators are now asking for increased allowances running into millions. Money they say is necessary to serve the public better. Governors are also planning to hold a referendum to increase county financial allocation from 15% to 45% which is about 500billions more from what they are getting. They too say this will help serve the people better. Surely was this the devolution we envisioned? Apart mutua, all these other governors cant give us a report card because they spend all the money they get on recurrent expenditures, unnecessary allowances and trips abroad at the expense of county development. Increasing county financial allocation means we increase the countrys debt simply because we can only borrow to meet that deficit. Alternatively, If they only want to see more money at the county level, we can as well devolve certain services from the National government which will also mean increased revenue allocation. Otherwise let us hold a referendum to scrap off devolution.
