Sending Love and Support to Sparks Earlier today a senseless act of violence occurred at Sparks Middle School in Nevada. While the motive is not known, what is known is that in a matter of minutes the lives of the students, faculty, and the community were irrevocably changed. The people and families affected have joined a new community that most of us will never fully understand what it means to be a part of. In the coming days as they come to terms with what took place, they will need support and kindness from the people around them. And the 26 Acts participants most certainly will be there to provide it. During the course of the shooting 2 students were injured and 1 heroic teacher lost his life. The aggressors life was also lost in the chaos that took place. At this time the names of the injured and the aggressor have not been released, and as we have done in the past, we will not glorify the actions of the shooter by using his name on this page. The name we will focus on, and try to help people to remember, belongs to a true hero: Michael Landsberry. As the tragic events took place Mr. Landsberry protected his students and attempted to get the aggressor to lower his weapon. These actions cost him his life, however, as a result of his willingness to pay that price countless lives were saved. His actions represent the best of humanity and by sharing and promoting his story it is our hope that it will shine past the image of negativity that we all were presented with. In honor of the 4 people directly affected by the shooting, as well as their families, we ask that you complete 4 acts of kindness. Dont allow the shooter to continue to hold the community down and destroy any more lives. Combat the sadness created by spreading kindness. If enough people join in this campaign to spread love, we can change peoples memory of today from a day of tragedy, to a day of love and honor for our fellow man. You never can tell what kind of impact an act of kindness can have on someone. After all, if just one hour prior to this tragedy a kind act was bestowed on the aggressor, I might not be typing this message today.
