Dear Heavenly Father, As Thanksgiving approaches, there are those gathered with us, who are missing their loved ones and they are dreading tomorrow. Some are divorced, separated or widowed and feeling pain as they remember what was… and so desperately wishing they could change what is. Many will be kept from loved ones for a variety of reasons, while others are feeling overwhelmed with responsibilities and expectations … and others are struggling financially and just not feeling like they have much to be thankful for… some don’t feel like celebrating and others are desperately wishing they had some place to go to celebrate. Father, we pray for all who are feeling these things… Even if we don’t find ourselves in these places today, we know what it’s like to be there. We want to intercede for our brothers and sisters that are feeling distraught, lonely and overcome with pain and heartache. Lord, we know that you are the beacon of light that steers them in the night. They may feel like they are in a fog and that they can’t feel you, or see you in the darkness, but you are there. You never leave us alone in the good times, let alone in the storms. Lord, we pray for everyone who needs to feel a touch from you. We pray for hope and for strength to hold on. May they learn to not look behind or worry about what’s ahead, but just think about the moment they are in and know that they can get through that moment with your help…we can do all thing through you. We pray for an outpouring of your grace…we pray that they will be able to embrace you…to cling to you…to find reasons to praise you in their storms. Lord, for those who don’t have anyone to stand with them in this life, we pray for friends and angels unaware to come beside them. We ask you to move people’s hearts to go visit those tucked away in nursing homes and hospitals… or those who are isolated at home… or those who are separated from loved ones and by themselves. Father, we see how this world is hurting… Lord, help us to be lights in the darkness…help us to share your love and be witnesses for you, even when we are hurting…Lord, fill us with your love so it overflows on to those we come in contact with. You often meet our needs when we are reaching out to meet the needs of others. Bless us Lord, so we can bless others. Go before us this day and help us in the midst of preparations and rushing about, to be thankful for all we have…to be thankful for your faithfulness and help us to be mindful of those around us that need encouragement this day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
