Senegal Focus: phase-out provisions for ozone-depleting substances. The import documentation for Senegal has been amended with regard to the following changes: Phase-out of particular ozone-depleting substances (ODS) A number of developing countries, among them Senegal, initiated the phase-out scheme for hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in accordance with the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer on 1 January 2013. A freeze of the amount of HCFCs to be imported is the first step of the implementation of a gradual reduction of importations of such substances, which is to result in a complete ban of HCFCs by 2040. The next foreseen stage is a reduction of the import level by 10% on 1 January 2015. The amount of HCFCs brought into the country is controlled by means of an annual quota system.
