Senior Research Fellow University of Oxford -Blavatnik School of Government Merton Street, Oxford Grade RSIV: £95,000 p.a. The Blavatnik School of Government, in association with the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) at the Department of Economics, is seeking to appoint a full-time Senior Research Fellow, sponsored by the RUSH Foundation, which funds disruptive ideas in the fight against HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. The role leads an innovative research programme that aims to supply donors and vulnerable governments with the necessary tools and inducements to take on the burden of effective long-term management of the HIV epidemic. The ultimate aim is to help generate more effective policy choices as well as a sustainable funding model. The primary target for this research is policy-makers in sub-Saharan Africa, especially finance ministries; international donors are an important secondary target audience. You will need to combine excellent research skills with strong abilities in building and leading a network of colleagues and collaborators. Excellent presentation skills with proven ability to forge links at policy level and speak authoritatively with ministers and senior civil servants are essential skills. The Senior Research Fellow will lead and build a research collaboration that includes the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Modelling Consortium based at Imperial College London. The successful candidate will have a strong background in public finance economics; a track record of world class publications in peer-reviewed journals; and strong analytic and technical capabilities in modern economic methods. You will have a good knowledge of sub-Saharan Africa as well as demonstrable ability to work across a number of academic disciplines and a successful track record of attracting and managing significant research income. The salary offered is £95k p.a., and will be fixed-term for three years in the first instance. The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon (UK time) on Friday 16 August 2013
