Senior Specialist – Environmental Assessment - Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi: People Management Supervise the activities of subordinates, through developing and motivating staff, conducting performance appraisals for direct reports, providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximise subordinates performance to ensure that all work within Environmental Assessment unit is carried out in an efficient manner. Day- to-Day Operations Supervise the day-to-day operations assigned for the Environmental Assessment unit to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures, and that employees’ activities are performed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. Report on a regular basis to the Unit Head - Environmental Assessment on the operational activities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to keep them informed and updated on the activities performed. 2 Environmental Studies Review Coordinate with the Environmental Permitting unit, to identify requirements and type of environment study and environment management plans required depending on the pre-defined factors to ensure compliance with established guidelines and standards. Review environmental studies such as Preliminary Environmental Review, Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA), etc. as required, in collaboration with the Specialists in order to assess the impact of industrial and development projects on the environment and ensure that studies comply with technical guidelines. Coordinate with other divisions/ sectors (such as Terrestrial and Marine Biodiversity sector) as needed to discuss and share input on environmental studies to ensure analysing environment impact on all environmental areas. Establishment of Environmental Studies Technical Guidelines Prepare and/ or update environment studies technical guidelines to ensure that they reflect local regulations and laws as well as best practice in order to ensure environment studies conducted by EAD approved consultants are comprehensive (e.g. determining impacts, mitigations plans, monitoring efforts, etc). Communication of Assessment Decisions Prepare and submit formal documentation on the approval or rejection of the studies to the proponent within the specified timeframe to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines. ECO Evaluation Provide input to Environmental Permitting unit on the evaluation of Environment Consultancy Offices (ECOs) including their preparation and submittal of studies, their performance during the year and other related factors in order to facilitate the decision making of whether or not to renew the registration of the ECO. Technical Guidance Guide the Specialists in handling complex assessments for industrial and development projects in order to facilitate a high level of quality and standards. Data Sharing Share all collected data with the Environmental Information Management division to support the development of comprehensive databases and consolidated reports as per the data sharing protocols established. Collaboration Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to environmental assessment studies and impact analysis for industrial and development projects in order to facilitate flow of information and build awareness. Collaborate with Customer Relations division, as required, in order to ensure timely receipt of all related documentation and applications required for environmental assessment activities. Policies, Processes and Procedures Participate in the development of the Environmental Assessment and Permitting section’s policies, processes and procedures technically and operationally and ensure adherence so that all requirements are fulfilled and aligned with the operations.
