Senior U.S. Diplomat Provides Update on Syria WASHINGTON, DC ,Thursday, October 31, 2013 U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford goes before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Thursday to provide lawmakers with an update on the United States policy toward Syria. Additional witnesses in the first panel include Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Countryman as well as Nancy Lindborg, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Democracy. The second panel includes testimony by Middle East policy experts from the Atlantic Council and the Council on Foreign Relations.
