Sensory Deprivation: As an aid to develop extra sensory perception studies with Department of Defense and the Space Program have turned to what is called Sensory Deprivation. The theory is that our normal living patters have conditioned us to seek a certain degree of sensation whether mental, physical or emotional during all waking moments. If the waking senses are eliminated and body movements is restricted, the body relaxes, mental and emotional tensions subside and the consciousness achieves unparalleled freedom. Laboratory studies used diving tanks, where the submerged test subject was kept in a weightless and motionless condition. Documentation of tests revealed that extra-sensory phenomena, including imagery, occur.
