Sensory Trays Often Early years practitioners and providers are stuck for space and finance- and often messy / sensory play is the first to go!!! A fun, creative and affordable way to provide children with sensory materials is through sensory trays. Sensory trays can be any size - margarine tub, storage container, basins, NEW (!!) cat litter trays, or under bed storage containers. New materials can be incorporated- dyed rice, peas, beans, lentils, sand etc Large quantities of materials is not needed!! Using smaller trays will allow practitioners to incorporate and manipulate various textures, smells and materials in an amount which is manageable. Come along to the EYE show on Friday and Saturday to get loads of ideas for sensory trays to bring into your room and settings!! See pic for some of the ideas for the show!
